Day 1Singapore to Kuala Lumpur
Gather at Woodlands Station in Singapore and board the Eastern & Oriental Express at 15:00, met by your steward and shown to a cabin panelled in cherrywood, Thai silk and Malaysian embroidery. Afternoon tea and a welcome cocktail in the Piano Bar as the train crosses into Johor and runs north through plantation country towards Kuala Lumpur. A four-course dinner in the Malaya or Adisorn dining cars is followed by live music.
Day 2Langkawi and the Perlis Geopark
After breakfast the train reaches Malaysia's far north-west and you choose how to spend the day: beach time on Langkawi with yoga and swimming, a guided boat tour through the mangroves and limestone karsts of the Kilim Geoforest Park, or cycling through the dramatic Perlis Geopark. Cultural alternatives include batik-making and a traditional tea ceremony. Return aboard for dinner and entertainment as the train works its way south to Butterworth.
Day 3Penang — George Town heritage
A full day given to Penang Island and UNESCO-listed George Town, the journey's cultural centrepiece. Choose a Vespa tour of the historic quarter past shophouses, clan jetties and street art, a spice market visit with a cooking class, or independent trishaw exploration at your own pace. Back aboard for a three-course lunch and an Asian-inspired massage or facial at the Dior Spa, with an optional afternoon stroll through Ipoh's colonial architecture before the celebratory final dinner.
Day 4Johor and return to Singapore
Breakfast in the dining car as the train runs south through Johor, past beaches, plantations and rainforest. Take a last look at Malaysia from the open-air Observation Car before the train crosses back into Singapore. Dismissal at Woodlands Station at 10:20, with a complimentary transfer to your Singapore accommodation.
